I am late posting today - but finally had a chance to take a picture of my baby rhino. Stepping way out of my comfort zone - but loving the process - I am using decidedly non rhino colors on this cute little guy. When I was looking for pictures of rhinos, I discovered how extensive rhino poaching is. Some of the pictures just broke my heart. So I'm thinking that I might do a series of endangered animals.
This baby is far from done - but I am starting to see something happening and I am liking it. I have always wanted to be more free with color, but this is the first time I have attempted anything like this.
Linking up to Paint Party Friday - thank you Eva and Kristin! Go take a look at all the art work - it's inspiring. Have a blessed and creative weekend.
Love your colorful baby rhino. And yes, it is so sad that poaching is going on.
ReplyDeleteThanks Faye - sorry I don't always reply to comments - I try to get around to everyone on the PPF list and by that time I am done!!!! I so appreciate each and every comment I receive.
DeleteYes it is very sad about poaching. Your rhino is just lovable. It will be great to see your series of endangered animals. Go Rhino!! I once had my RE License in an office called Rhino Realty. The broker there was so in love with rhinos. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gloria
DeleteThat tenderness! I also want to join the fight against poachers! wonderful colors!
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad - actually horrifying to see what the poachers do - they will take the horns and leave the rhino alive - he might as well be dead since he can no longer protect himself.
DeleteThis is lovely! Your experimenting with colors looks great so far, and looking forward to seeing more!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Abigail
DeleteI LOVE him! Such personality--I want to look into his eyes and hug him. Your use of color is extraordinary.
ReplyDeleteGrown rhinos are not really cuddly - magnificent perhaps. But babies of any species have their own special charm!
DeleteHe is one precious little dude. I love the idea of making a statement through your artwork, so I praise you for speaking up for endangered animals. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWhen I looked for rhino photos - I came across horrifying pics of poached adults - they just take the horns and sometimes leave them alive - they have no way of defending themselves and won't be welcomed into any herd. So sad
DeleteI love your baby Gina! The animals are much endangered by poachers, good that you are calling attention to it. Valerie
ReplyDeleteRhinos are not exactly "cute" animals - but the babies are really precious. The adults are God's magnificent creations though and poaching is just horrible.
DeleteGreat motion and coloring your rhino! We have some wonderful animals in danger on our planet.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Susan - their greatest enemy is man who takes away their habitats (luckily many are protected now) and poach these magnificent creatures for their horns
DeleteOh this is wonderful and a great idea for a series!! Can't wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
Thanks so much Sherri
DeleteHe is already looking cute! It's heartbreaking to hear about endangered animals.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine - and it is heartbreaking - this is meant to celebrate these wonderful creations of God
DeleteSo sweet, i love the colours you have used :)
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable! And the colors suit him wonderfully. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - I have been trying to break out of my color comfort zone
DeleteI love the rhino! Sort of mysterious looking. People will do any old bollocks to make a living innit, no matter who or what it harms. Welcome to the market economy
ReplyDeleteaaaawwww I love this painting. Well done
ReplyDeleteNicole/Beadwright
Thanks Nicole - will have completed him this week.
DeleteIs this pastel? You did a great job with this... love the colours - especially the blue lines in there. xx
ReplyDeletePauline - I have used everything here - acrylic paint - oil pastels and Pan Pastels. I love using different mediums - they all have different effects.
