Summer of Color 2014 is almost at a close. I love this challenge - it forces you to use colors you might not usually. This week the color palette is red, royal blue and a touch of light blue. This is such a fun challenge - it doesn't take a long time each week and you have to use color combos that you might not regularly use.
I had sketched this Laughing gull (the only type I've seen here in South Carolina) and decided he needed a makeover. Those grays and browns are so drab. Some tattoos and he is a new gull! The funky arrow is due to needing to cover up some really nasty lettering I had there originally. I love gulls - they are not majestic birds but they are quintessential beach birds and I love the beach. So - here he is - thanks for visiting - have a blessed and creative day. And make sure to check out the other entries on Kristin's blog here
nice use of the colors. & it does looks like he is laughing. do birds/gulls laugh?
ReplyDeletevisiting from SOC, have a great day.
The sounds they make sound as if they are laughing - maybe they tell each other jokes - LOL Thanks for stopping by
DeleteHe looks great with his makeover - your funky arrow looks like it was meant to be there. Great use of this week's colours.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely comment Cindy - the lettering was so bad I had to cover it up!
DeleteYour creation is so beautiful and such a wonderful way to use this week's SOC colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Sharon!
DeleteOh very good indeed, I like this gull in his SOC colours and that's just what they look like when they are "laughing". The arrow looks as if it was meant to be there. Yes, the challenge this time certainly "forced" some of us to use this colour combination.
ReplyDeleteThe make-over suits him great use of this weeks colours.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful bird with gorgeous color combination!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your gull! Valerie
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to read your take on this week's SOC colors. Your bird is quite majestic, especially with his new do. He must be proud of those wings because they are stunning.
ReplyDeleteHe is fun! Kate

ReplyDeleteLove your gull. He's a lot of fun. And I know about roses and deer. I've been having an issue with them this year too. I didn't show you the smelly spray, the fencing and the dryer sheets hanging everywhere to keep them away. Thanks for visiting.
ReplyDeleteAh so pretty!
