Working in the studio

WIP on heavy wc paper
Overflowing - 12x16 canvas

Trying to keep the brush moving - Overflowing is a painting I started several weeks ago - definitely meant to be abstract in the flower department.  This was my first foray into limited color and black and white.  The sides need to be painted and then I am done.  Not sure what I am planning to do with this picture.  I could hold it for a while and put it in the fall show I was part of last year - we'll see.  All in all - I am pleased with how the painting turned out - not easy to see but the vase is collaged with dictionary paper; then I painted white, used some charcoal and finally sanded the vase so more of the paper showed.

The WIP is just that - not sure if it will be salvaged or become collage fodder.  I'll have to see how it goes.  I like the idea - just not sure I like how it's executed.

    Both compositions are intriguing and I think you're doing well with the palette. Your use of textures adds a lot to your paintings. The flowers really pop. The figure is very expressive. Thanks for sharing!

    Hi, I really like your idea of sanding some of the white off to show more hints of the dictionary paper underneath. I like the texture and composition. The WIP is really neat. I love the colors and the shape and word "Go". Have a good week and thank you for stopping by my blog.

    Your flowers are fantastic, the colour really pops out. I really like the way you sanded the vase back, it gives it an aged feel. I also love the paintings on your friday post.
