More Fun with Birds!

For a time such as this - I seem to have birds in my belfry!  I have these 6x12" canvases I got at Dick Blick and I just really like the size.  This is the first of my "birdies" that I have painted in this size and I have 2 more in the works.  It hasn't been a super productive week - guess I am just coming down from my time and NY.  Still haven't really grieved - but I know that too will come in it's own time.

This painting is called "Wassup My Friends?".  I got a little more daring with the background color - used dioxazine purple - diluted it a bit with water and mixed it with some gesso and added some Inka Gold on top.  T  he top bird evolved from a Pokemon sketch I did for my grandson.  The duck was inspired by a funny photo and the bottom bird just flew out of my imagination.  I will be adding this piece to my Etsy shop.  I am linking to Paint Party Friday and Mandarin Orange Monday  -  go check these links for some wonderful artwork and photography.  Thanks for dropping by - I love your comments and do my best to respond to all of them.

  1. Hi Gina
    These birds are so cute!
BTW I wanted to email you to tell you this but you are a "no-reply blogger"... you seem to be signing up for PPF on Thursdays just before the next week starts. If you wait a day to link, until the next PPF goes live (12:02 Thursday night/Friday am) then you will have a lot more visitors than signing up so late in the week. Most people have left the party by then.
    Lovely to see your work!
