Trying to perform a balance act!

ATC's - Man in the moonflower; Lucy in the sky with diamonds
The Visionary

Drawing made easy course
It's very hard to figure out what I do for a "living".  I'm still a mom - a full time grandma, a wife, a child of God, a sister and a friend.  I felt incredible pulled in so many directions which frustrated me and and really stressed me out.  My husband and I had a talk and I am going to have some dedicated studio time during which grandpa takes over during the day.  School ends next Friday so we will see how this all pans out.  So onto the art--I rarely make ATC's but I always love how they look in that tiny format.  So when a swap came up with a starry theme -- I said yes and took the plunge.  The Visionary (she saw what others couldn't) is a piece I am calling finished.  I'm not sure how I feel about it, but it's done for now.  I also have been motivated to improve my drawing skills - especially the human face figure and signed up for an on-line course called "Drawing Made Easy" (here if you are interested - I am in no way affiliated with this group).  It was reasonably priced and I felt it would keep me on track.  I discovered that it is way harder to draw features alone than in the context of a whole face.  Above is my nose and mouth - my first shots as my nose looked more like malformed feet.  This is the first one I thought looked somewhat like a nose - my nose!  Below is something I started painting - I'll talk more about that in another blog post as this one is way long!  Linking to Paint Party Friday (here) hosted by the fabulous Eva and Kristin.  Go and check out this wonderful virtual museum of terrific art by artists from all around the world,  Have a blessed and art filled day and weekend.

  3. Hooray for you to carve out time in your busy life to do art! And what a wonderful guy your dh is to help you do that. I enjoyed your post today. The Visionary is lovely. I like the action I see there. I like your nose and am so envious b/c mine is crooked from a "horsing around" accident when I was a child. Great post.

  12. We all wear so many hats it is easy to get overwhelmed. You are very smart to dedicate time for you and what you love to do. Enjoy your time in the studio.
