Little Women

So that's what I did this week - I created little women.  I decided to see how it would be to work small - ATC size - and guess what?  It's hard!  You have to be very precise with your brush or pen - (but I did try to paint as much as I could).  I'm not super pleased with all of them - but there are pieces of each I like.  During the week I will post some faces I did last summer - even I can see a lot of progress.  My main goal is for the faces to show life - not to be exact to life.  (if that makes any sense).  Thanks for visiiting - have a blessed and art filled weekend.  I am linking to Paint Party Friday (here).  Go and visit to see all the wonderful work submitted by this incredible online community of artists.  Thank you so much Eva and Kristin for all your work!

    1. Actually this is extremely hard - I'm doing it to gain a bit more control which you really need in a small format! Taking a break from it now. Thanks for the encouraging comment!

    2. I think this idea if using small works as practice is a good one and to gain control on a small scale will mean such a lot when you come to a larger scale I feel. Dxx

  3. I think they are wonderful. When I saw "Little Women" I thought of Louisa Mae Alcott's girls. I haven't tried tiny portraits but I am thinking that it must be difficult.

    1. That is what I thought of as well - I was a voracious reader as a kid. Thanks - they are very difficult to do - taking a break from them right now.

  4. I love the ACEO size! If you are selling them, join the FB group, or the Etsy group.
My favorite is the red haired lady :oD

  5. I love that you experiment with various skin tones and hair styles, since each requires the use of different techniques. My favorite one is the African American, because I like the intensity in her eyes. Blessings!

  8. Oh I completely understand! ATCs are so intricate, but they also get you so involved because of the size. Beautiful ladies. Thank you for sharing and happy PPF!

  19. These are fab - there's a lot of detail for such tiny paintings! Funny I was tidying out my art supply cupboard today and found a load of atc size paper I'd cut up along with the little ATC cello bags and it made me think I might start doing them again!
