It only took me 30 years (or seemed like!!!)

Completed
original and WIP
This is the 2nd artist I've tackled (sometimes it does feel like that) in the Studying under the Masters online course.  I used Cezanne's Boy in a Red Vest as my original inspiration. This was an extremely difficult painting to attempt.  Not because it was the face and figure of a boy - but because of the way Cezanne's strokes are hashed all over the place.

But I am not here to criticize myself - this was never going to be a perfect copy.  I did start off mixing all my colors from primaries but I would have taken 60 years to finish.  So I mixed but not only from primaries.  I could continue to work here but I decided to give it up for Lent (LOL). I continue to learn by copying the masters and then using what I've learned in my own work.  There is no artist I want to "be" when I grow up - but each one has a lesson to teach me (even if it's something that I don't like to do).  I think I've learned more so far, as slow as I am, about the goodness of each artist's technique - at least parts of which I seem to embrace.  I luckily have a long time to finish this course because I am taking my time.  Thanks so much to Jeanne Oliver for putting this course together and to all the participating artists.  On to the next one....
