Jungle book

Untitled giraffe
I struggled with this one - really with the eyes. Once I added that contrasting pale yellow stripe, it all came together.  He is a mixed media piece using collage, paint, Pan Pastels, and ink. He will have a gloss finishing varnish. I haven't thought of a name for him yet - any ideas?

This summer has been busier than I thought it would be.  So I  haven't gotten a lot of connected studio time.  Just bits and pieces here and there.  I really need some play time to get the inspirational juices flowing again.  Also I'm trying to reassess how I sell my art.  I need to enlarge my audience.  I'm thinking a FB store but don't know much about it.  Let me know what your experiences have been with on-line selling.  I have done Etsy - but there are about 70 or 80,000 mixed media artists out there.  Takes a lot of work and time to get any kind of following.  I did put some of my work on Fine Art America - but right now I just wanted to create a couple of tote bags to see how they look.

Thanks so much for visiting today.  I will be linking tomorrow (friday) morning to Paint Party Friday.  Eva and Kristin faithfully administer this site and you can find a veritable smorgasbord of art there.  Go and check it out - and maybe submit your own art there.  There are no requirements for submission and you will find wonderfully encouraging people out there.  Have a blessed and art filled weekend.

  1. Your Giraffe is wonderful! I think he looks like a Gerald! Hugs, Valerie

  2. Oh he is fabulous...and kind looking...I think Gerald really suits him...however I had thought of bit of an oxymoron there... I have no idea how that name came up! Not sure how to sell your art... all social media is very important..and stay updated on it and in contact with others... Don't forget the importance of instagram too! It's all about building an audience and connecting I know that for sure!
