The Texture Crimes - revisited

I posted a pic the other day of a 9" x 12" piece of water color paper with a ton of texture - forgot to mention that I also stamped on it.  Now - what to do with it.  I have been inspired this week by some lovely textile work I have seen here and there.  So - I cut the sheet into 3 x 3 tiles.  I machine stitched a tile to some black wool felt I had.  I hand sewed the Swarovski pearls and the black button.  Then I was stumped.  However, met a friend when I was walking my dog this morning who was having a rough time.  I prayed for her - and thought of something I read yesterday.  We have so many questions for God - and they are all written in heaven - but here on earth we are reading them backwards.  So we have many questions and very few answers.  I decided to call this series (I will be making more) of tiles - Questions for God.  I think I will mount them on small (4 x4 or 5 x 5) deep edge canvases.  I am really glad I just played with the texture a couple of days ago.  I am pleased with the results.  I also love doing detailed work on small pieces.  So - what do you think?   Love your comments - thanks for visiting.

  2. I believe art can be a strong prayer tool. He can talk to us and may even answer some questions, we just need to listen. Blessings!

    1. I have decided to incorporate a verse that asks a question of God with each tile. I'm not sure if I will limit myself to Psalms or not - so a little more work to do here.
