My title is a question because I didn't really create any art this week (except for my little lady here). What I did do is put 2 tons of laundry away (seemed like!) and start cleaning up my studio. That cleanup included throwing out some stuff. I'll probably need it next week - but I haven't even looked at it in 3 years. There is more to throw out - but it's like cutting your hair when it's long - do it in stages and you won't freak out (maybe).
As for my little lady - you can see she is worried. After all I am throwing out "good stuff" that truly can't be given to anyone or I would (old glitter in messy containers, etc). I used a technique that Julie Fei-Fan Balzer posted on her blog this week (here). As I may have mentioned before (or maybe not) I am allergic to water color paints. They cause me to furrow my brow and often tears come from my eyes. But when I saw this technique with water color - I thought "hey, even I can do this". Actually I love finding things in a painted surface and I will do more of these. If necessary I can take an antihistamine before I start (LOL). I am linking to Paint Party Friday this week with my paltry entry. Please go check out the fabulous art work that was submitted there this week. Thanks for stopping by - leave a comment - I love to hear from you.
Doesn't sound like you were unproductive at all. Clearing the clutter makes way for beauty to flow. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteI know - it was so bad in there I lost inspiration just entering the room.
DeleteDefinitely a productive week and the sketch certainly portrays the way you are feeling.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF, Annette x
I often gravitate toward drawing worried women - I can't imagine why!!!!

Thanks Mary
DeleteLove your portrait a lot of expression.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon
Deletecleaning and organising the studio is creative... I always get a good spurt along after I am done with that chore... and I have 3 tons of laundry to be folded, sorted and ironed if you are finished with yours...xx
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate the laundry offer - but I am sadly booked with new loads this week!
DeleteUggh I've been in that laundry loop too! Wonderful expression! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't walk through my bedroom without tripping on the bags! Thanks for leaving a comment Robin
DeleteI've come across a few blogs already where people have been doing a big cleanup. It seems to be the time of year to do this ;-) I've tried this technique too a few days ago. It's fun! But it looks easier than it is ....
ReplyDeleteYou are right - I did a couple of other watercolor panels and haven't yet been able to find the faces
DeleteCleaning up your studio is definitely a creative pursuit. Just figuring out where to put something or what to keep often takes lots of creative problem solving. I'm glad you shared your portrait. Now, I am wondering what she is thinking about.
ReplyDeleteProbably about what else to get rid of - I've only tapped the surface! Thanks for stopping by Ginny
DeleteCleaning clutter is essential, makes room for creativity, good for you! It's amazing how stuff (and house work) seems to always accumulate ... Really like you worried lady, the watercolor really adds to the sketch!
ReplyDeleteThat is true - there is almost no room for creativity in a messy, disorganized room! Thanks for your comment!
DeleteSometimes cleaning the studio helps clear the mind as well :) I did a little of that myself, this week. It's a good time to let ideas percolate. Hopefully, your girl will be smiling soon! -Terri
ReplyDeleteThe ideas are already percolating - thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment Terri
DeleteDefinitely productive, I would say! Thats a sweet sketch:)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - yes I know its easier to work in a cleaned and organized space - still have more to do! Thanks for the comment
DeleteOh I am in desperate need of de-cluttering!!! THE WHOLE HOUSE could use a dose of it :0(
ReplyDeleteMy whole house is in need as well - no one ever throws anything out! Thanks for stopping by Carol
DeleteOh, this cracked me up - it is a great entry! AND I love her worried expression - maybe it's because you mentioned throwing out glitter ;) xoxo
ReplyDeleteGlad you got a laugh! I need to finish the clean up and start creating - thanks for stopping by
DeleteI'm pretty sure she's worried about all that laundry. :)) Love her!
ReplyDeleteThanks - no matter how many tons of laundry I put away there is always more waiting for me!
DeleteHappy PPF!
ReplyDeleteHI Gina, This portrait is wonderful, I love the way she appears from the background. Also-congrats on your clean studio.
