Unproductive?

My title is a question because I didn't really create any art this week (except for my little lady here).  What I did do is put 2 tons of laundry away (seemed like!) and start cleaning up my studio.  That cleanup included throwing out some stuff.  I'll probably need it next week - but I haven't even looked at it in 3 years.  There is more to throw out - but it's like cutting your hair when it's long - do it in stages and you won't freak out (maybe).

As for my little lady - you can see she is worried.  After all I am throwing out "good stuff" that truly can't be given to anyone or I would (old glitter in messy containers, etc).  I used a technique that Julie Fei-Fan Balzer posted on her blog this week (here).  As I may have mentioned before (or maybe not) I am allergic to water color paints.  They cause me to furrow my brow and often tears come from my eyes.  But when I saw this technique with water color - I thought "hey, even I can do this".  Actually I love finding things in a painted surface and I will do more of these.  If necessary I can take an antihistamine before I start (LOL).  I am linking to Paint Party Friday this week with my paltry entry.  Please go check out the fabulous art work that was submitted there this week. Thanks for stopping by - leave a comment - I love to hear from you.

  7. I've come across a few blogs already where people have been doing a big cleanup. It seems to be the time of year to do this ;-) I've tried this technique too a few days ago. It's fun! But it looks easier than it is ....

  8. Cleaning up your studio is definitely a creative pursuit. Just figuring out where to put something or what to keep often takes lots of creative problem solving. I'm glad you shared your portrait. Now, I am wondering what she is thinking about.

  10. Sometimes cleaning the studio helps clear the mind as well :) I did a little of that myself, this week. It's a good time to let ideas percolate. Hopefully, your girl will be smiling soon! -Terri
