My week's work

Leaf Sketch

I am still making teacher's and a couple of friends Christmas gifts.  You can see the purple tree on the right - I completed 2 of these and painted 4 others.  I made several pins - 5 of them went to a gallery downtown - I have 2 more to put up on Etsy.  I also completed one sketch of a fall leaf (yes we do get fall in Beaufort - but the leaves don't really turn until November).  I colored this leaf with Inktense pencils and used a water brush to make the colors a bit more vibrant.  So - I am still at work - very buffeted by some of the horrible things that go on in this world (the Connecticut school shootings primary among them this week).  There are wonderful things and wonderful people - If I didn't know that I would be terminally depressed.  God has given me a desire to make some art - another wonderful and beautiful thing.  I am praying for all those families effected by the tragedy in Connecticut.  Thank you so much for visiting.  You are also part of the beauty in the world.  Linking to Paint Party Friday.  Thanks Kristin and Eva for continuing to host - go and check the beautiful art created by many beautiful artists.

  1. Lovely seasonal work this week Gina! I think the whole globe is praying for the Connecticut victims, perhaps there is some comfort in that.

    1. Thank you for the encouraging comment. I am still at a loss as to where I am to go artistically - so I continue to draw and use things like watercolor to hopefully grow my skills of observation and putting it on paper

  9. Lovely sketch. I think we have to take beauty and pleasure from where we find it, especially when there is such horrendous + heart breaking events happening else where x

    1. Thanks Kirstin - there are always horrendous happenings in this world - but the senseless slaughter of children just breaks my heart.

  10. Those pins are amazing, love them! And that purple tree is so lovely. Your beautiful ornaments are hanging in our Christmastree since today ☺ They sure look good between all the Christmasballs and the lights. You're right, when horrible things happen we have to make ourselves keep seeing the good and the beautiful in the world. Otherwise the evil takes over and wins. I hope you'll have a wonderful Christmas! hugs, denthe

  11. Creating and making art is a beautiful gift we can give to the world. All of your creations this week are lovely. I know your friends will have big smiles on their faces when they see the love you put into their gifts.

PS How lucky you are to live in Beaufort. One of my favorite areas of the country.

  12. Lovely leaf sketch! We don't get much color change here in south Louisiana and what little we do get is late, too. What a cute little purple Christmas tree! Keep making art. The world is a better place for it.

    1. I was surprised at how much we get - it's just later and of course, some trees don't change at all. Thanks for your encouraging comment.

I can't find the words to write about the Connecticut shootings... those poor innocent children.... it is just so horribly horribly tragic.

    1. There aren't any words to explain; to make the pain go away. I just pray that there are lots of hugs for the people of Newtown - just so they know there are people who care a lot about what happened there. Thanks for stopping by.
