One for three

SOC, PPF and LB2013
I had a bit more time this week and managed a little more studio time.  My color is from SOC week 6 - sepia and sage.  They are great colors but I don't often use them together because it's easy for me to make mud with them.  I used a map stencil from ArtistCellar and sprayed with Liquitex yellow oxide spray paint.  Then I mixed up a green that seemed "sage like".

Life Book 2013 had the fabulous Danita giving a lesson which I did a lot of straying from.  She used water colors and masking fluid and I used acrylic paints.  She painted one of her sweet little ladies in a bird cage with a key to show how easily we are imprisoned in this world.  I continued with my ladies - this one is surrounded by words like fear of failure, mistrust, envy etc. which are keeping her prisoner.  the fragment on her forehead is from a magazine and the most prominent word is doubting.  The rest of the words inside the figure are about the freedom God offers in himself - the key is to trust him and gain freedom from fear and there are 2 quotes from scripture.

Please check the art work from artists at all levels of learning (and find some to participate in yourself);  Summer of Color 2013 (which is unfortunately done for this year - thanks Kristin for hosting) here; Life Book 2013 which is a year long mixed media course run by Tam LaPorte here; and Paint Party Friday hosted for about 3 years by the fabulous Eva and Kristin here.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed and art filled day.

  5. Wow! I love your portrait and all the symbolism you incorporated into it, especially the reference to freedom in God. I also like the contrast between the vibrant eyes and lips, as if she's trying to be free. Thank you for your kind words in my last post. Blessings, my friend!

  6. It's empowering to see art pieces that portray what every artists felt at one point, fear & self doubts. These are powerful learning that all of us need to break away from and just become who we are :). LOVE the lady this week, she is a beauty.

  14. Really beautiful! I love all the encouraging words and scripture you've written in the piece. I'm so glad I enlarged it to be able to read all of it. You draw beautifully. Happy PPF! PS. The deer usually eat everything here too, but we had not seen any deer at all for over a month while they were giving birth. Today 2 fawns flew through the yard while we were working outside. So glad to see that at least two babies made it.
