The Magenta Mystery Woman

I missed posting on Friday and will be not be available next week - and I have been painting - so I decided to post this lady today.  Although I drew a preliminary sketch, I really didn't have a plan.  I collaged the 4x6" canvas with dictionary text, maps and postage stamps.  Some of the collage background shows through.  Then I picked a color (Golden quinacridone magenta fluid acrylic paint).  I gave her some wild hair and she was crazy looking.  But I decided not to listen to that left brain critic and keep going.  I changed the face a bit and played more with the shading.  I stenciled the hair and stamped a question mark on her face.  Then I looked at here and said "done".  I rarely paint the sides of my portraits black - but black worked for this one.  She is pondering the great questions of life - as we all do.  She's not sad - just thinking and searching.  I decided that she had definitely left the completely crazy (and pretty ugly) lady behind and I like her.  That's how I knew I was done!! LOL

She is in my Etsy shop looking for a new home.  Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed and art filled day.  I will link this entry on Friday to Paint Party Friday (here).  You can go and check out the wonderful artists from last week right now.  Thanks to the awesome Kristin and Eva for hosting.

  4. Her pink hair is awesome. I actually have some pink gel that I rub into strands of my hair. I love it. One is never to old to do fun stuff and I enjoy adding color like that to my hair.:) Great work, she is rocking.:)

  9. Lovely wistful lady, and I like the way you have achieved so much texture in her magenta hair, very light and feathery. It goes so well with her purple skin colour. I love it when artists paint with unusual, eye-catching colour like this.
