This week's work

I am really enjoying creating these monochromatic faces.  I am experimenting with facial angles and features.  My goal is to create interesting faces and I know that although I am a work in progress (as are my faces) they are beginning to show some personality (kind of serious) but personality nonetheless.  Maybe I'm just afraid of doing teeth LOL.  These ladies are all going into my Etsy shop (here). I am not looking to make tons of money - the shop helps me focus on creating new art.

The bottom piece is a work in progress (I have to finish it soon). It's a baby gift for my friend's son and daughter-in-law.   I painted a giraffe family for their little boy last year but went a bit more whimsical for this giraffe.  Not as a pretty stage but hopefully it will get better!!!

I am linking to Paint Party Friday (here) hosted by Eva and Kristin faithfully every Friday.  Go and be inspired by the wonderful artwork posted there.  Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed and art filled weekend.

  3. I do like these against the book pages. There is something very Noble in each of the faces, they almost remind me of the faces of the statues on easter Island.

  5. Thanks for sharing your works in progress. Yes teeth can be tricky I usually do them a bit blurred otherwise they look like gravestones. Love your giraffe too.

    1. Funny comment - I have done teeth but they definitely are tricky - gravestones - very appropriate for All Saint's day (and Halloween). Thanks for stopping by

    1. I was in a slump about a year ago and what I wished for was that I would develop my own style - it's all about continuing to create and patience. Thanks Kat

    1. The monochromatic faces (not the drawings) came out of a wonderful workshop I took recently with Pam Carriker (a fabulous artist and teacher). I found I loved creating depth with variations on one color. Giraffes (and elephants) are my favs too

  20. Love that you use such limited colors on each...they looks so cool together! And the backgrounds are great with the dictionary showing through! AND I can see personality in each of them :) Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog!! Of course you are in the lotterypot ♥ Good luck for the win :) ♥ Conny
