Studying under the Masters

Studying Under the Masters is without a doubt the best online course I have taken - and I am still on week 1 - Videos of week 3 are already up.  If you want to study under 9 talented artists who present background and technique of 9 master artists - some from the past and some current - then this is the course for you.  This is my first project - using Matisse's Blue Nude and creating my own version.  One of the most educational and fulfilling art exercises I have ever done.  It took me a week and a half to complete it and I know there are things I could change but I chose not to.  You can find out more here - the course will be available for 2 years and I highly recommend that you look into it.  Jeanne is a wonderful teacher (not the only teacher) and she has created this course with much thought and heart.  Anyway - my work is below.  I think this will change how I view creating a painting forever - even if I don't paint like Matisse.  I am linking to Paint Party Friday (here).  Thank you Kristin and Eva for being so faithful to host this site.  Go and take a look at all the wonderful art work there.

  2. Thanks Valerie - have been so busy with other things - my blog and Etsy shop have been neglected. Jeanne Oliver's class is my make-up (at a better time in my life) for all the art and art history classes I slept through!

    1. Thanks Diana - one of the challenges was to take photos of our progress. Matisse did that with his paintings as well. A great help in seeing how he painted.

    1. I hear you Linda. I have taken some lighter online courses in the past - now is just my time for this course. Jeanne Oliver is a lovely woman and she teaches the first week and this was her brain child.

    1. One of the benefits of this class - you learn to appreciate artists who might not have been your favorites. I slept through required art history in college - LOL Matisse took pictures of his progress as well which was very helpful in studying his techniques
