Bravely I am sharing what I've been up to. First of all, after my class in Saluda, I spent about 90% of my time on ArtScape. That's the fundraiser for my grandson's Montessori charter school. We had the event on November 13-15. I did sell about 5 paintings. Woo Hoo! Returned unsold art to Savannah on Tuesday the 17th and my brother came down from NY the next day. On the 18th we went on a road trip to Asheville NC. We came back to Beaufort the next night. What a great trip! We walked all over Asheville and stayed at a wonderful hotel downtown. Needless to say I collapsed for about a week after that.
While we were there I got to see some wonderful artists in their studios. One was full of paintings using oil paints and cold wax medium. I fell in love wth the paintings and after I returned home I bought a couple of oil paints and some of the medium.
So - I've finally reentered my messy studio and I've been playing!!! This is not a piece I'm crazy about, but it's a first try with oils and cold wax medium. The cold wax gives the paint a wonderful matte finish and allows for all kinds of texture. I created this small piece on an old canvas. It's small - maybe 4 x 5". The under painting was done in acrylics. As I said - no masterpiece - but a start. And I haven't played with anything new - or anything at all - in quite a while. So I'm hoping I can start to blog again more regularly and continue to experiment.
I am linking to Paint Party Friday. Hope you get a chance to visit all the artists who participate there. Have a wonderful, creative weekend. Thanks so much for dropping by.
Nice to see you again, have fun with trying out new methods, Hugs, Valerie
