A horse is a horse - of course

This is my collaged horse - which started out as a sketch and painting, but ended up like this. The paper is a beautiful Washi paper I bought in a local  scrapbook/bead store in Beaufort. The tail and mane are gold mica medium (Golden).  The quote is from the Wizard of Oz, hand written on tissue paper and adhered with liquid matte medium.  The whole canvas is covered with several layers of gloss varnish.  Wasn't sure I would like it while I was working on it - the collage wasn't my original plan.  I do like it though - it's important to like our own art!  This is very different from the collaged elephant that inspired me (can't remember where I saw it now, but will update when I find it again) - but the idea of collaging the figure appealed to me.  Lot's of glue work and cutting (and peeling small pieces of paper off my hands) but I will try some other images.  I have enough paper lying around - I've got a bit of a paper addiction.  Once of my favorite places is the World Market in Bluffton, SC.   Beautiful, inexpensive, handmade wrapping paper from around the world.   Lots of other good stuff too - food; furniture, wine, etc.  Don't go if you don't want to spend any money!  Still working on art every day I can - drawing every day too.  Thanks for stopping by - leave a comment - I love to hear from you!
